Minerals, as well as being important for fertile soils and growing food, are essential for our modern technological society. We mine minerals from the earth and extract chemical elements that we use to make all kinds of tech devices, from mobile phones and computers to medical devices, electric vehicles and solar panels.

Thanks to a new composite created with textile fibers, through a university-led project, waste materials could be reused for facade cladding, floating flooring and acoustic false ceiling. 

Covadonga is an industrial engineer who is always up for a challenge. First and foremost, getting a degree in a traditionally male-dominated field. Her research focuses on studying how metals behave under stress and strain.
