Water for sustainable development
The Sohar plant is a 250,000 m3/day reverse osmosis desalination plant located in the industrial port of Sohar, approximately 200 km west of Muscat, Oman. It was developed (design, financing, construction and 20 years of operation and maintenance) by Sacyr (51%) and two local partners (OBIC and Sogex) under a non-recourse project loan with an investment of USD 230 million.
The desalination plant has the capacity to provide water to approximately 500,000 people. It was designed with one primary motive: optimizing water and energy use. That is why it is highly automated.
