The construction of the world's longest suspension bridges is particularly complex, as it requires the loads from the hundreds of cables and anchors that support them to be properly distributed. How are these gigantic structures built to withstand earthquakes, strong winds and ocean currents?

In order to prevent falls during the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, a safety net was installed under the structure. Workers also wore face masks, anti-glare goggles and wind cream. To successfully erect this megastructure, multiple technical, safety and economic barriers had to be overcome.
